History

The Serafin family’s tobacco history goes back many generations to the tobacco rich fields of The Canary Islands in Spain. In the late 1800’s Don Antonio Serafin arrived in Cuba as a soldier for the Spanish army. Eventually he moved to the central province of Las Villas in Cuba where he grew and cultivated “shade” tobacco alongside his family. By the 1940’s, Antonio’s son Ramon Sr. was involved in the tobacco business. Ramon Sr. opened his small cigar factory in the nearby town of Fomento.

During this time Ramon Jr. learned the cigar business from his father, Ramon Sr. He perfected his craft by becoming an expert blender, as well as a cigar

maker. After the revolution of 1959, the Cuban government nationalized businesses so Ramon Jr. decided to leave the country for the United States, settling in New Jersey. In the early 2000’s, Ramon Jr. began passing his cigar knowledge to his son Arnold.

SINCE THE

1890's

Together, they decided to once again bring the Serafin brand of cigars back to life, this time in Tarpon Springs Florida where they hand roll their Cigars. They worked alongside each other for more than 20 years. In late 2019, Ramon jr. passed away, but we are proud to say that Arnold and his son Brandon are keeping the Serafin family legacy alive, They are the 4th and 5th generation of the family to work in tobacco. For the past two years they have made it their goal to resurrect many of Tampa’s historic brands such as Flor de Tampa, La Floridana, and the Principe de Gales (Prince of Wales).

Serafin de Cuba Cigars offers something that you cannot find in large, corporate owned cigar companies - uniqueness. Our expert Cuban cigar rollers are able to craft the rarest vitolas & blends available on the market today. If you want something rich in history, steeped in tradition, but lovingly made by true artisanal craftsmen, then Serafin de Cuba is your true choice.
